Tribute & Message From The Family

Patricia W. Smith, 81, of Aurora, passed away Saturday June 9, 2018 at her home. She was born January 8, 1937 in Peoria, IL the daughter of the late Henry and Doris (Croy) Carlberg.

Pat loved stubbornly, hugged frequently, and laughed generously. She had no shortage of friends, family, and loved ones, and always welcomed new people into her life, caring deeply for each person she encountered and welcoming them fully. Pat brought people together for so many different adventures and laughs — uncountable memories begin with the line "Remember when Grandma...".

There were no bounds to Pat's generosity and love. Pat was a strong, vibrant, and loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who had the great luck to share their lives and hearts with her.

Patricia worked various places throughout her life and worked many years at Fermi Lab as a secretary, retiring in 2003.

Patricia is survived by her daughter, Melody (Peter) Moy of Aurora, IL; her sons, Michael (Alaine) of Portland, OR and Martin Warfield (Teresa) of Plainfield, IL; her grandchildren, David, Brian (Brooke), and Katrina Moy, Oliver, Karen, and Heather Warfield; her sister, Sandra Wielgosh and sister-in-law Juanita (Henry) Carlberg; and countless nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Smith; her sisters Shirley Hein, Janet Goss, Charlotte Murray, and Pamela Sue, Cathy, and Janice Carlberg; and her brothers Henry and Ronnie Carlberg.

Funeral services will be held Saturday 1:00 p.m. June 16, 2018 at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr., Sugar Grove, IL 60554. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
