Tribute & Message From The Family

G. William Moore "Bill" died peacefully at his home on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the age of 101. He was born on November 15, 1917 in Lovelaceville, KY and grew up on a farm in western Kentucky near Paducah, KY. He was the eighth child of a family of nine children. In 1931, when he was thirteen years old, one of his older brothers came home from college and told him that CPA's made $25.00 a day. At that time, his parents were paying laborers on their farm $1.00 per day and gave them their noon meal. They worked a twelve-hour day. Bill had no idea what a CPA did but it seemed like a pretty good business to get into. So, from that time on, he directed his efforts and interest to become a CPA. Bill graduated from Bowling Green Business University in Bowling Green KY in 1938 and passed the CPA exam in May 1940, becoming one of the youngest Certified Public Accountant in the country. He worked for the State of Kentucky, DuPont Company and four years as an Officer in the U. S. Navy during WWII. November 1, 1949, he opened his office for the practice of public accounting in Aurora, IL. He retired at the age of 94.

Bill was active throughout his life in the community through the Aurora Kiwanis Club and Wesley United Methodist Church. He was admired and respected by all who met him and was always there to help those in need.

Bill was preceded in death by Freda, his beloved wife of 63 years. On their tombstone is etched "a marriage made in heaven".

Survivors include two daughters Helen Payne of Lakewood, CO and Carolyn Popp of Sugar Grove, IL; two sons-in law, Dick Payne and Jim Popp; his two granddaughters, five great grandchildren, three step granddaughters, one step grandson, and nine step great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018, between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM at Healy Chapel, 332 West Downer Place, Aurora, IL 60506 and a Memorial Service will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at 10:30 AM. Condolence & Memory Journal

I'm so sorry to hear about Bill, and that I missed his service. After looking through my Christmas cards, I realized that I didnt get one from him this year, for the first time in about 15 years. He was a great, kind soul. I feel lucky to have known him. (I was his personal trainer in Batavia.)
