Alice M. Hartman, 76, of Aurora , passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at her daughter's home surrounded by her family. She was born December 29, 1932 in Elgin , IL , the daughter of the late Clarence and Helen (Van Duser) Nelson.

She was a member of the Friendly Center at the Prisco Community Center , the Turner and Eagle Club Auxiliaries. Alice retired from BRK Brands in 2004 after 27 years of service. She was a childcare provider for many children. Alice was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Survivors include her children, William R. (Elizabeth) Hartman of Naperville, Kim (Randy) Skaggs of Sandwich, Karla Hartman of Kankakee, Kevin (Cynthia) Hartman of Aurora, Karen (Ed) Kralik of Aurora and Kay Hartman of Downers Grove; 18 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; a sister, Betty Babbitt of Aurora; a brother, Howard Nelson of Indiana and several nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Hartman; a sister, Doris (Robert) Scholtz; a brother, Harold Nelson; a sister, Lorraine (Albert) Carlson; a brother, Clarence Nelson, Jr. and two infant children, Kim Hartman and Robert A. Nelson.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Place , Aurora . Visitation will be held on Friday, December 4, 2009 from 3-9 PM at our Aurora Chapel. Interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Friendly Center or to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her caregivers, her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Ed Kralik and Shannon of VNA Hospice.
