Carnation Kouvavas, 87, formerly of Aurora, passed away Friday, December 4, 2009 at the Greek American Rehabilitation and Care Center in Wheeling, IL. She was born March 15, 1922 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late James and Anna (Michalakis) Grevenites.

Carnation was a member of St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church in Aurora and the Daughters of Penelope.

Survivors include her children, Margo (Constantine) Malos, Constantine "Dean" Kouvavas and Anne (Keith) Schaal; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a sister, Pearl Moulopoulos; sisters-in-law, Judith Grevenites and Athanasia Pappas; a brother-in-law, Michael Kouvavas and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Kouvavas; brothers, Peter and John Grevenites and a sister, Mary Lampos.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 11 A.M. at St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church, 1855 E. Fifth Ave., Aurora, IL 60504. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10 A.M. until the service hour at church. Interment will be at Spring Lake Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church.
