David H. Welch, 79, of Aurora passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Jennings Terrace. He was born October 15, 1930 in Malta, Illinois the son of the late Earl and Genevieve Welch. David was the fourth generation to be raised on the Welch Centennial family farm in Malta. He attended both grade school and high school in Malta, graduating in 1948. David then attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa and graduated in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean War from 1952-1954 and was stationed in Tokyo, Japan. David worked for thirty years in Chicago for Bennett Brothers, a general merchandise catalog mail order firm where he was an advertising director. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Aurora, the DeKalb County Farm Bureau, the Lucky 50 Fishing Club and Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathi Welch of Aurora; two nieces, Electa Finley Chonko of Downers Grove and Becky Anderson of Rockford and one nephew, Mark Olson of Rochelle.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two sisters, Priscilla (Welch) Finley and Barbara (Welch) Olson.

Funeral services will take place at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl. Aurora with Pastor Steve Rhodes officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 A.M. until 1 P.M. on at the chapel. Interment will be at Spring Lake Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Malta Library Board.
