Fred H. (Fritz) Pfeiffer passed away on October 9, 2017. He was born May 19, 1922 in Michigan City, Indiana to Fred and Josephine (Zinke) Pfeiffer. Fred attended East Aurora schools and graduated from East High in 1940.

After graduation, Fred was employed by the Illinois Bell Telephone Company. He worked as an installer, repairman and office technician until September 1942 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army (Signal Corp). From 1942 to 1946 Fred served in the States, Holland, Belgium, France and reached the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. While stationed in France, he met and married his wife and life companion Janine (Julie) Gosteau.

After discharge from the Army, Fred resumed his employment with I.B.T. where he worked in the northern Illinois area until his retirement in 1977. Fred loved wood working as a hobby and after retirement started Fred's Fix- It which dealt with home remodeling and cabinet making.

Fred's leisure interests included card playing, bowling, golf and horseshoes. He was an avid fan of fast pitch softball, watching the Sealmasters and Home Savings teams for 30 years. He was the major force in establishing the Aurora Township Little League Association and held the position of secretary for the Aurora Men's Fastpitch Association. He was also a life time member of the Montgomery VFW and the Masonic Jerusalem Temple Lodge.

Fred was devoted to his family and friends. He lived by the motto "family always first".

Fred is survived by his wife of 71 years, Janine, three children, William (Linda) Pfeiffer of Aurora, Jeffery (Randi) Pfeiffer of Longmont CO, Christine (Lee) Johnson of Naperville. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, James (Suzanne) Pfeiffer of Arlington Heights, David (Colleen) Pfeiffer of Aurora, Brian Pfeiffer of Denver CO, Kimberly (Simon) Pfeiffer of Manchester U.K., Sarah Pfeiffer of Boston, MA, Ryan (Robin) Johnson of Singapore, and Andrew Johnson of Houston, TX. and eight great grandchildren.
