Obituary

Jerry Skow, 77, of Gold Canyon, AZ, formerly of Sugar Grove, IL, died peacefully at Banner Baywood Medical Center, Mesa, AZ on Friday, October 20, 2017 after a brief illness. He is now in the arms of his savior and joins his special needs twin sons, Joel Morgan and Jason Michael in heaven.

Jerry was born on April 10, 1940 in Aurora and lived most of his life in Sugar Grove. He was a self-employed trucker for 53 years. He began his career by joining his father in business, becoming a partner and eventually buying the business when his dad retired. After his own retirement, he became even more devoted to his family. He was a devoted husband and father and a very compassionate man who gave his time and talent to anyone who needed help. While a snowbird and after retirement, he enjoyed attending many truck shows, the Sandwich Fair, taking rides in his '57 Chevy on the way to Organ Stop Pizza, as well as sitting each morning in his hot tub while enjoying the view of Superstition Mountains at his home in Gold Canyon, AZ. Prior to Jason's death on June 26, 2017, Jerry kept in shape by taking long morning walks pushing Jason in his wheelchair while enjoying Arizona's beautiful winter sunshine. In the summer, Jerry, JoAnn and Jason would take their long walks inside the local mall to avoid the summer heat.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Skow, of Gold Canyon, AZ; his sister, Kathy (Skow) Walz, of Aurora; his nephew, Keith (Jennifer) Walz, of Germantown, WI. as well as a number of cousins.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Bea Skow; his brother in law, Bob Walz and his twin sons, Joel Morgan Skow and Jason Michael Skow.

Visitation will take place from 12-2 P.M. followed by a funeral service at 2 P.M. for Jerry and Jason, who passed away on June 17, on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr., Sugar Grove. Interment will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery.
