Harold F. Meyer Jr., 88, of Bozeman, Montana, formerly of Aurora, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2009. He was born on September 10, 1921 in Aurora, the son of the late Harold F. and Imogene (Buckingham) Meyer Sr.,

Harold started college at Iowa State in Ames, IA where he was a nationally recognized trombone player. During this time he was drafted into the Army and served in the One Hundred and Second Infantry during WWII.

After the war, he graduated from University of Illinois with a degree in mechanical
engineering, and met his future bride, Bernice M. Mueller, whom he married in 1948.

Harold worked for a number of companies, American Standard, Eli Lilly, General Electric and retired while working for Trane.

He was an avid reader of literature in many disciplines. Harold was very active at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis where he was a deacon and elder. In the 1960's he became a mason and a member of the Mystic Tie Lodge in Indianapolis.

Harold and Bernice moved to Montana to be near their son and thoroughly
enjoyed living in the West, but always appreciated his roots in the Midwest.

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Bernice; children, Dr. John (Susan) Meyer; grandchildren, Jessica and Jennifer Meyer; step-grandchildren, Shanna Rogers and Walker Dobson; siblings, Morgan (Carol) Meyer and Barbara (Bruce) Sublette.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Janet Meyer.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2009 from 2 PM ? 5PM at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora, IL 60506. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, November 9, 2009 at Lincoln Memorial Park.
