Margaret "Peg" Steinhebel, passed away Friday, June 1 , 2018. She was born October 6, 1919 in Corning Iowa, daughter of the late Edgar and Agnes Cupp. She experienced 98 wonderful and fulfilled years of teaching, travel, camping, children and helping others.

Peg taught PE for West Aurora Schools (Freeman, Greenman, Smith) from 1958-1982. She volunteered in Aurora for the following organizations: AAUW for 40 years, New England Congregational Church from 1950, Girl Scout leader 1956-1966, Aurora Woman's Club 1982-2000.

Peg was a pioneer for women's rights in Aurora. As a very active and loved member of the wider Aurora Community with many awards Peg was honored as the Grand Marshal of the 1989 Aurora 4th of July parade.

She is survived by her daughters Rae Ann Hoehn and Jennie Depke. She has 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Peg was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Gus" Steinhebel, brother James Cupp of Manassas VA, and sister Barbara Joukovsky of Littleton CO.

There will be a memorial service and celebration of life at New England Congregational Church, 406 W. Galena Blvd., Aurora,IL. 60506 on Tuesday 5:00 p.m. June 26, 2018.

Memorials in Peg's memory may be directed to New England Congregational Church or the Aurora Historical Society.
