Oscar H. Reich, age 91, of Aurora, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Provena Mercy Center in Aurora, IL.
He was born on August 22, 1918, in Secor IL, the son of Max and Esther (Iggena) Reich. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II from 1942-1945 and was stationed in England, France, and Belgium. He married Erma I. Wilkey on August 27, 1949, in Benson, IL. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Aurora for nearly 60 years, where he served on the finance committee, and ushered for many years. Oscar was employed with Pfister Associated Grower (P.A.G.) for 26 years and with Aid Association of Lutherans until retirement. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Erma Reich of Aurora, IL; six children, Ellen Reich of Aurora, IL, Donald Reich of Aurora, IL, Donna (Alan) Christiansen of Peotone, IL, Karen (Peter) Oelschlaeger of Denham Springs, LA, Linda (Brian) Maschhoff of Seattle, WA and Barbara (Dan) Visser of Zeeland, MI; ten grandchildren, Megan (Geoff) LaCost, Nathan (Jami) Christiansen, Sarah Christiansen, Martina (Nathan) Kidwell, Aurora Christiansen, Karl Oelschlaeger, Aaron and Jiali Maschhoff, Marisa and Brandon Visser; four great-grandchildren, Sydney, Hayley and Addy LaCost, Bradford Christiansen; his brother, Herman (Rita) Reich of Eureka, IL; and his sister, Augusta Folkers of Dwight, IL;
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Nancy Reich; a brother and sister in infancy; and his brother-in-law, Ena Folkers.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday December 4 at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday December 5, 2009 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 420 W Downer Pl., Aurora, IL with Pastor Al Bergh officiating. Mr. Reich will lie in state from 9:30 A.M. until the funeral hour on Saturday at the church. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park.
