Ralph C. Putnam, Jr. died at his home in Aurora of complications of Parkinson's Disease on September 9, 2009. He was 94 years of age. Ralph was born in a house on Downer Place on June 5, 1915.

Ralph attended Greenman School, was in the first graduating class at Freeman School and graduated from West Aurora High School. He concluded his education at Dartmouth College and Harvard Law School. He went to work as an attorney in Chicago and later became a member of an Aurora law firm created by his father, Ralph C. Putnam, Sr. and Benjamin P. Alschuler, Sr. In 1946 he married Jean Rita Larson of Aurora. She died in 1997. Ralph was active in various charitable clubs and organizations. He was on the board of the Kane County Mental Health Organization and later associated himself with what is now known as the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley. He was the last surviving founding member of St. David's Episcopal Church of Aurora. It was Ralph's conviction that no person is any more or less important than the next.

Surviving him are his son, Ralph III of Chicago; daughter, Sandra Lynn Scales and grandchildren, Noah Scales and Kathryn Meeske, all of California; his sister, Cynthia Voland of Aurora; his niece, Debbie Voland (Alan Tatro) of Greenfield, Massachusetts; his nephew, Richard (Nancy) Voland, Jr. of St. Charles; his "niece-in-law", Kathryn Voland the widow of deceased nephew, Geoffrey Voland; his close friends, Carolyn Woodward, Neville Moment, Kathryn Voland; his caregivers, Aura Enriquez, Inelda Nazreno, Annie Rodino, Nena Cole, Virgie Villoso and Bernard Enriquez as well as law associates and good friends, Ron Hem and Mike Funkey.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 12, 2009 from 1-4 PM at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Place, Aurora. A private service will be held at Spring Lake Cemetery.
