Obituary

Karen "Sue" Johnson, beloved wife, mother and grandma, found eternal peace on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at the age of 74. She was born in Fairfield, IL on November 21, 1943, to Leslie and Bereniece Cunningham, who preceded her in death. She married Joe Johnson of Fairfield, IL on June 18, 1965, and lived in Aurora, IL for the past 50 years.

She was captivated by love! Her love for her husband, love for family, love for people, love for life and love for Christ was evident in all that she did. This inspired her in her studies at Southern Illinois University in Special Education, in her 53 years of marriage, in her wonderful provision at home, in her commitment to First Presbyterian Church in Aurora, in her attention to detail as she played ultimate host at so many events, in her humble demeanor, and in her kindness toward others especially those in need.

Her suffering is over and a new body awaits. She looked forward to the day she would meet her Savior and that has come. She will be greatly missed but leaves a wonderful legacy of love, laughter, wisdom, strength, commitment, humility, and support that will continue.

She is survived by her husband Joe Johnson; children Steve (Nanette) Johnson, Staci (Pat) Moran, and Shawn Johnson (Joanna Zukiewicz); grandchildren Ana and Teddy Johnson and Shannon, Aiden, and Riley Moran; and sister Pat (Richard) Vaughan.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Sue's name to First Presbyterian Church, 325 E. Downer Place, Aurora, IL 60505

Downer Pl., Aurora from 4-8 p.m. The funeral will be Tuesday, August 14, at First Presbyterian Church, Aurora at 10 a.m., preceded by a visitation from 9-10 a.m. A private burial will take place in Fairfield, IL at a later date.
