Sugar Grove, Illinois | Age 73

Warren E. Hestekin, age 73, of Sugar Grove, Illinois, formerly of Independence, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family on Friday December 8, 2017.
Warren was born on May 22, 1944 in Whitehall, WI to Ervin and Evangeline (Kolve) Hestekin of rural Independence, WI.

He was raised on a dairy farm, third born of nine children, and graduated from Gilmanton High School in 1962. Being raised on a farm taught him good work ethic which helped him become the self-made man he was, starting his own successful business, Warren's Backhoe Service. He was honest and true to his word in all he did.

Warren was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He ran a tight ship, but was always there for them. This giant of a man, had an incredible soft side showing love, compassion and generosity to all who knew him.

Wherever Warren was, people gathered around. Warren's outgoing personality, sense of humor, and his endless stories of his life experiences drew people to him, whether at family gatherings, in his man-cave garage, or at the coffee shop. Even during his illness, he could make the medical staff and all those around him turn from serious to laughing by his incredible sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Patricia Hestekin, children, Daniel (Dawn), Jenny (Greg) Crabb, Steven, Threasa (Scott) Taylor, Elizabeth (Matt) Kufer; grandchildren Karey, Jackie, Jake, Megan, Nick, Alex, Ashlyn, Josh and Mathias.
